Job summary

Albemarle County Service Authority is seeking a Mechanic Assistant to support the maintenance, repair, and inventory management of vehicles, equipment, tools, and facilities assets. You will work under the Inventory & Equipment Technician, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and available for daily operations.

The role involves preventive maintenance, basic repairs, maintaining records, and assisting with sourcing parts while promoting a safe work environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience performing basic maintenance and repair on vehicles, equipment, or machinery preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and safe use of hand and power tools required.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on vehicles, heavy equipment, tools, and assets.
• Diagnose basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and assist with repairs.
• Maintain inventory records, track parts usage, and document maintenance history in the asset management system.
• Respond to urgent maintenance needs and support safe, efficient operations.
