Job summary

Knight Transportation, Inc. is seeking a driven leader to manage a fleet of 30+ drivers and optimize profitability. You will develop strong relationships with Driving Associates to enhance safety, service, and retention while coordinating with planners to assign optimal lanes.

You will coach drivers to achieve mileage goals, ensure payroll accuracy, and deliver timely reviews, supporting on-time freight delivery and strong customer communication.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' in Operations and/or Planning and/or Customer Accounts required.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
• Must be able to lead others.
• Must possess exceptional communication skills.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Must be able to work in high pressure situations in a fast paced environment.
• Must be proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead a fleet of 30+ drivers and manage driver availability to maximize productivity.
• Routinely review Profit/Loss for assigned area and maximize profitability.
• Develop relationships with Driving Associates to improve safety, service, and retention.
• Coach Driving Associates to meet weekly mileage goals and optimize home time and hours of service.
• Maximize P/L for all assigned tractors.
• Collaborate with Planner(s) to assign drivers to lanes that serve company and drivers.
• Discuss loads and service expectations with drivers on each plan.
• Provide coaching and training to help drivers reach their potential.
• Communicate safety expectations including pre-trip inspections and route conditions.
• Ensure payroll accuracy for assigned drivers.
• Provide timely, in-person reviews for Driving Associates.
• Track freight to final destination to ensure on-time delivery.
• Work with sales and account teams to keep customers informed.
