Job summary

Cross Environmental Services is seeking a hands-on Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair a diverse fleet of commercial vehicles and heavy demolition equipment. You will diagnose diesel engines, hydraulics, suspensions, and air brake systems to minimize downtime, while adhering to strict safety protocols.

The ideal candidate will have experience with semis, roll-off trucks, excavators, and skid steers, and hold a valid CDL with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

We are seeking a versatile, highly skilled Fleet Mechanic to maintain, diagnose, and repair our diverse lineup of commercial vehicles and heavy demolition equipment. From semis and roll-off trucks to excavators and skid steers, you will be the primary line of defense against equipment downtime. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with a strong background in diesel mechanics, heavy hydraulics, and structural welding repairs.

Required Qualifications

• Mechanical Experience: Proven, hands-on experience maintaining and repairing both commercial diesel trucks and heavy earth-moving equipment.
• System Knowledge: Deep technical understanding of diesel engine diagnostics, complex hydraulic circuits, heavy-duty suspensions, and air brake systems.
• Safety Focus: Uncompromising commitment to shop safety protocols, heavy lifting standards, and hazardous materials handling (fluids, batteries).
• Mobility: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Welding Expertise: Strong background in MIG and Stick (SMAW) welding, specifically related to heavy equipment repair and high-stress structural steel.
• CDL: A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to test drive and transport commercial vehicles.
• Certifications: ASE Medium-Heavy Truck certifications, fluid power (hydraulics) certifications, or specific manufacturer training (e.g., CAT, Bobcat, Mack, Kenworth).
