Job summary

Congruex is seeking a Fleet Field Technician to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on vehicles and equipment in the field. The role travels to job sites to address mechanical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient fleet operations.

Requires 5+ years of medium/heavy duty repair, strong problem-solving, and the ability to work independently. CDL preferred; must provide own tools and be willing to work overtime and weekends.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED and 5+ years in medium/heavy truck or equipment repair.
  • Good written and spoken English; bilingual Spanish a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to overtime, weekends, and on-call rotations.
  • Must supply own hand tools; company provides specialized tools.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to job sites; perform field maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Diagnose and repair construction equipment and trucks using test equipment.
  • Repair hydraulic components and read wiring schematics.
  • Perform basic fabrication and welding (MIG, ARC, oxy-acetylene).
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and DOT inspections.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns as needed.

Fleet Field Technician

Job Profile:

Department: Construction | Reports To: Director, Fleet | Employment Status: Hourly (Non-Exempt) | Primary Location: Denver, CO | Pay Range: $30-44/hour | Sign‑on bonus: $1,000.

Job Summary

The Fleet Field Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment in the field. This role requires a high degree of technical expertise and the ability to work independently. The Fleet Field Technician will travel to job sites to address mechanical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency for fleet operations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Travels between facilities and projects to perform duties, with 85% of work performed in the field.
  • Diagnoses and repairs various construction equipment and on‑highway utility trucks and trailers using basic and specialty test equipment (mechanical or electronic).
  • Troubleshoots and replaces components such as valves, hoses, fittings, tanks, pumps, etc. in hydraulic systems.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs complex wiring for systems such as utility booms, chassis, and engine wiring; must read and understand wiring schematics.
  • Performs basic fabrication and welding using MIG, ARC, OXY Acetylene, Torch, grinders, and other fabricating tools.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and DOT inspections including wet and dry PM services and repairs that need to be addressed during DOT inspection findings.
  • Raises trucks, trailers or other equipment using hydraulic or air-assisted jacks or hoists in a safe practice.
  • Replaces worn or defective brake components including tire replacement.
  • Diagnoses and repairs air conditioning systems.
  • Completes and submits all paperwork accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED and minimum 5 years of experience in medium/heavy duty truck repair, construction equipment repair, utility equipment repair, or similar.
  • Good written, verbal, and listening ability in English; bilingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; CDL preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, with good critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, follow directions, and be self-motivated.
  • Professional representation of the company and integrity in work.
  • Willingness to work overtime, flexible hours, one weekend workday, and on-call rotation after hours and weekends.
  • Knowledge and experience with Ford Power Stroke and GM Duramax diesel engines, and John Deere equipment.
  • Basic computer skills and organizational ability.
  • Must provide own tools and work boots; specialized tools such as computer scanners provided by the company.
  • Ability to respond to emergency breakdown repairs promptly.
  • Capability to work in fast-paced, pressure situations.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Customer service skills and professional demeanor.
  • Basic automotive/diesel system knowledge and at least 1 year of shop experience.
  • Furnish own personal hand tools; specialized equipment provided by company if needed.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Work indoors and outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Maintain visual and audible contact with crew.
  • Work around heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and standing.
  • Wear safety boots, glasses, hard hat, and other safety gear.
Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations
  • Associate or trade-school degree in automotive or diesel repair.
  • ASE certifications; Air Conditioning 609 certification.
  • Welding certifications.
  • Qualified to perform BIT/DOT inspections.
  • Brake certification for air systems.
