Job summary

The Texas Department of Transportation in Mineola is seeking an Equipment Mechanic I (Motor Vehicle Technician III) to perform maintenance and repair of state vehicles and heavy equipment. You will handle preventative maintenance, inspections, safety checks, and repair work to ensure reliable operation of highway infrastructure.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform QA, document work orders, and coordinate parts and tools.

Qualifications

• 2 years in automotive/medium/heavy truck or construction equipment diagnostics and repair.
• Valid driver’s license; Class A CDL within 120 days of employment.
• Experience with inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Proficiency with MS Office for documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and repair fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Check lighting, wiring, and safety features of vehicles.
• Enter data into fleet management system and process work orders.
• Order, pick up and deliver parts; operate heavy equipment as needed.
• Perform emergency spot repairs and QA on repaired vehicles.
• Prepare vehicles for use with safety equipment and features.
