Job summary

Pratt Industries in Rockwall, TX is seeking a Management Trainee in Logistics to oversee driver load assignments and dispatch operations. You will report to the Southwest Regional Manager and coordinate daily dispatch for a large driver team.

The role requires strong communication with CDL drivers, use of dispatch systems, and adherence to safety and DOT policies. Travel within locations may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• College degree is preferred but not required.
• Previous dispatch experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Daily communication with 60+ CDL Class A Truck Drivers including yard spotters, local delivery drivers, and over-the-road drivers.
• Assign work to all drivers during a specific shift.
• Maintain positive relations with drivers and customers.
• Influence positive employee morale and quality customer service; address driver issues with management and HR as needed.
• Manage drivers’ use of PeopleNet for eLogs and Trip Management.
• Utilize TMW to manage deliveries, backhauls, returns, and special transportation requests.
• Ensure trips in TMW are coded for billing accuracy.
• Ensure TMW orders are completed in real-time with TotalMail.
• Complete the Shift Pass-On Log daily for smooth dispatch shift transitions.
• Work with Management to increase backhaul percentage and minimize dead-head.
• Ensure loads are dispatched timely per the Dispatch Schedule.
• Document late shipments in TMW Remarks with reason for dispatch after schedule.
• Coordinate with Dispatch Supervisor to select cost-effective delivery modes.
• Follow Safety Program and Policies to reduce collisions, injuries, and equipment damage.
• Track equipment usage and arrange repairs promptly.
• Report equipment damages to Management promptly.
• Track driver attendance to ensure staffing meets demand.
• Ensure payroll and timekeeping records are accurate and timely.
• Maintain Continuity for all drivers and correct errors within 24 hours.
• Ensure DOT and Company Policy compliance (Random Drug Screening, MVR, Medical, etc.).
• Ensure vehicle inspections and registration/inspection reports are up to date.
• Follow Accident Reporting procedures per policy.
• Organize activities to ensure safe, cost-effective, on-time performance.
• Track sign-in/out times, routes, and communicate issues to management.
• Handle incoming calls and respond promptly to customers, vendors, and drivers.
• Monitor driver performance and report to Management.
• Process and file all paperwork for assigned shifts.
• Create and update daily reports as needed.
• Communicate issues to the incoming Dispatcher to ensure resolution.
• All other duties as assigned.
