Job summary

Hub Group is seeking a Fleet Technician 3 to diagnose, repair, and maintain Class 8 tractor-trailer equipment across diesel engines, braking, powertrain, HVAC, and aftertreatment systems. You will perform PM services, inspections, and road tests to ensure uptime.

The role requires proficiency with diagnostic software, strong tooling, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment while adhering to DOT standards and safety SOPs.

Qualifications

• 4 years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational / Technical or certification preferred.
• Demonstrated customer service and relationship building skills.
• Expert understanding of fleet maintenance policies, DOT standards and industry practices.
• Organized with the ability to deal with multiple activities in a fast paced environment.
• Specialized training in diagnosis/troubleshooting major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses preferred, ASE Certification preferred, 608/609 certifications preferred.
• Proficiency with tools of trade including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools.
• Clean MVR and ability to operate service truck preferred.
• Strong work ethic and excellent communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, adjust and repair Class 8 tractor and trailing equipment including diesel engines, electrical, brakes, transmissions, and ABS systems.
• Perform all levels of preventive maintenance services on trucks and trailing equipment.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and verify repairs.
• Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances to ensure factory specifications.
• Mentor other technicians and document repair actions clearly on repair orders.
