1776 Companies in Chancellor, South Dakota is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered trucks, trailers, and equipment. This hands-on role emphasizes safety, quality workmanship, and the ability to work independently or with a shop team.

The position offers a schedule of Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, full-time on-site in Chancellor. Compensation ranges from $24 to $35 per hour with health, dental/vision insurance, PTO, referral bonuses, and

Qualifications

2+ years of diesel mechanic experience preferred.
Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.
ASE certifications are a plus but not required.
High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred.

Responsibilities

Diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel-powered trucks, trailers, and related equipment.
Service engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, steering, electrical systems, and other components.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and manuals.
Perform preventative maintenance and DOT inspections.
Document repairs, labor, and parts used accurately.
Communicate concerns and recommended repairs to shop leadership.
Assist with roadside repairs and emergency breakdowns as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
