Job description

Join a Team That Keeps Critical Fleets Moving

Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) has spent three decades building a nationwide service network: 40+ locations, 2,600 teammates, and a 10,000+ unit fleet serving utility, telecom, rail, and construction. We're adding a skilled technician who can own full-cycle maintenance and repair on commercial trucks and heavy equipment—both in the shop and in the field.

Your Day, Your Impact

You'll start your day reviewing service tickets, prepping parts, and planning both shop jobs and mobile calls. One hour you're isolating an intermittent 24V electrical fault; the next, you're rebuilding a brake system or setting up a PTO to drive a hydraulic pump. You'll lean on advanced diagnostic software to get fast, accurate answers and return assets to service safely and efficiently.

What You'll Handle
  • Advanced diagnostics: Use OEM-level and aftermarket tools to pinpoint mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic issues.
  • Chassis/powertrain: Inspect, repair, and rebuild steering, suspension, braking, and driveline components on Class 6-8 trucks.
  • Emissions systems: Service EGR circuits, coolers, and valves; support aftertreatment performance (DPF/DEF).
  • PTO & hydraulics: Install, configure, and repair PTO gearboxes, pumps, valves, cylinders, winches, and integrated hydraulic systems.
  • Electrical systems: Read schematics and repair complex 12V/24V circuits, wiring harnesses, starting/charging systems, and control modules.
What You Bring
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
  • Hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic on heavy trucks (Class 6, 7, or 8).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a safety-first mindset.
  • Technical school grads and military veterans with specialized mechanical training are encouraged to apply.
Tools, Tech, and Equipment You'll Work With
  • Systems: Diesel engine platforms, diesel vehicles, aftertreatment (DPF/DEF), electrical diagnostics (12V/24V).
  • Hydraulics: PTO-driven systems, pumps, valves, cylinders, and winches.
  • Fleet assets: Box trucks, flatbeds/pickups, cranes, boom trucks, digger derricks, aerial devices, boom cranes, refuse trucks, and hi-rail trucks.
Core proficiencies

Diesel engine systems (including light vehicle diesels), heavy equipment systems, hydraulic components, and advanced equipment troubleshooting.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive pay tied to your skills and experience, plus paid vacation, sick time, and holidays, 401(k) match, medical/dental/vision/prescription coverage, uniforms, boot allowance, ongoing training, and more.
