Job summary

Liberty Lines Transit, Inc. is seeking a skilled Mechanic to maintain, diagnose and repair fleet buses. You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to maximize safety and reliability.

The role requires 2+ years of experience, a high school diploma or GED, ASE preferred, and the ability to read schematics, use diagnostic tools, and perform preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and road tests.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement: High School Diploma or GED.
• ASE certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years’ mechanic experience.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred; CDL required before month 5.
• Experience with diagnostic equipment and schematics.
• Ability to read maintenance manuals and safety documents.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on fleet buses, including tires, lights, fluids and safety equipment.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues on fleet vehicles.
• Conduct DOT inspections and document results to comply with NY regulations.
• Perform road tests and on-the-road repairs as needed.
• Utilize hand and power tools to perform repairs and keep the shop clean and safe.
• Interpret manuals and schematics to complete repairs efficiently.
