Job summary

Pima County’s Fleet Services seeks an Automotive Specialist I (Light-Duty) to perform routine and complex maintenance on light-duty cars and trucks up to one ton. You will diagnose issues, run test drives, and update repair records using fleet management software.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED with two years of related experience, or one year with Pima County in Fleet Services Automotive Technician I. A valid driver’s license is required, and safety first is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED + 2 years of experience maintaining and repairing light-duty cars and trucks up to 1 ton
  • Alternatively: 1 year with Pima County in Fleet Services Automotive Technician I (Light-Duty) position
  • Relevant education/experience from college may be substituted
  • Qualifying education and experience must be documented in the Education and Work Experience sections of the application

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on light-duty vehicles
  • Conducts daily inspections of the service bay and maintains a safe work environment
  • Follows safety procedures and uses tools and equipment safely
  • Inspects and replaces electrical components such as batteries and bulbs
  • Verifies serviceability by test drives and updating systems
  • Updates repair records using fleet management software
  • Upfits vehicles with emergency lighting and equipment
  • Performs complex repairs on light-duty vehicles
  • Performs vehicle diagnostic troubleshooting
  • Troubleshoots complex electrical systems
  • Coaches/mentors junior technicians
