Job summary

Pima County’s Fleet Services seeks an Automotive Specialist I (Light-Duty) to perform routine and complex maintenance on light-duty cars and trucks up to one ton. You will diagnose issues, run test drives, and update repair records using fleet management software.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED with two years of related experience, or one year with Pima County in Fleet Services Automotive Technician I. A valid driver’s license is required, and safety first is essential.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED + 2 years of experience maintaining and repairing light-duty cars and trucks up to 1 ton
Alternatively: 1 year with Pima County in Fleet Services Automotive Technician I (Light-Duty) position
Relevant education/experience from college may be substituted
Qualifying education and experience must be documented in the Education and Work Experience sections of the application

Responsibilities

Performs routine preventative maintenance on light-duty vehicles
Conducts daily inspections of the service bay and maintains a safe work environment
Follows safety procedures and uses tools and equipment safely
Inspects and replaces electrical components such as batteries and bulbs
Verifies serviceability by test drives and updating systems
Updates repair records using fleet management software
Upfits vehicles with emergency lighting and equipment
Performs complex repairs on light-duty vehicles
Performs vehicle diagnostic troubleshooting
Troubleshoots complex electrical systems
Coaches/mentors junior technicians
