Philadelphia Gas Works seeks a Fleet Auto Mechanic to join its union team. This full-time role performs fleet maintenance on a range of medium- to heavy-duty trucks, conducts inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance, and supports road service calls as needed.

You will need a high school diploma and a valid US driver’s license with a clean record; PA emissions/inspection licenses are required, with CDL Class A target within 12 months. PGW offers strong benefits and stable employment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year of on the job verifiable shop experience.
• Current, valid driver’s license with “clean” record required.
• PA State Emission and Inspection licenses are required.
• Must be able to acquire a Class A Commercial Driver’s License within six (12) months of hire.
• Commercial drivers must meet medical standards established by Federal and State Regulations.
• Automotive AAS degree or equivalent from a vocational/tech program is a plus.
• Experience with medium to heavy duty trucks, van engines, diesels preferred.

Responsabilités

• Fleet maintenance including removing and installing engines, rears, transmissions, and clutches; brake repair and adjustment.
• Repair or replace wiring, distributors, and generators; front-end alignment; radiator and spring replacement; engine tuning.
• Mounts and dismounts tires and chains; diagnose ignition systems.
• Use of hand and power tools and diagnostic equipment; update equipment and emails as needed.
• Assist other mechanics or foreman and diagnose road breakdowns for necessary repairs.
• Perform road service and state safety and emission inspections.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections; respond to calls as needed.
• Other related duties as assigned.
