Responsibilities

• Oversee a full lifecycle of company drivers, including recruitment, onboarding, qualification files, performance, and terminations.
• Ensure drivers receive required safety, compliance, and operational training per DOT.
• Manage the DOT drug and alcohol testing program, consortium, random testing, post-accident testing, reporting.
• Conduct vehicle accident investigations with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Administer crane and forklift certification programs, training coordination and records.
• Ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA across locations, including inspections and recordkeeping.
• Manage vehicle registration and insurance programs with current documentation.
• Partner with operational leadership to promote safety culture.
• Participate in emergency planning and response.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate fleet safety risks through policy development and coaching.

As the Fleet and Safety Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the company's fleet operations meet all regulatory and safety standards. This position oversees driver qualification and training, manages compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, and leads safety initiatives across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and passionate about fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all drivers receive required safety, compliance, and operational training in accordance with company policies and DOT regulations.
• Manage the DOT drug and alcohol testing program, including consortium management, random testing, post-accident testing, and compliance reporting.
• Conduct thorough vehicle accident investigations, including root cause analysis, documentation, corrective actions, and reporting.
• Administer crane and forklift certification programs, including training coordination, compliance tracking, and maintenance of records.
• Ensure compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations across company locations, including driver qualification, vehicle inspections, and recordkeeping.
• Manage company vehicle registration and insurance programs, ensuring all vehicles maintain current documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with operational leadership to promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout fleet operations.
• Participate in emergency planning and response activities.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate fleet safety risks through proactive monitoring, policy development, driver coaching, and corrective action plans.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills and effective communication abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to manage others and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel up to 75% regionally.
• Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA requirements.
• Previous experience in a supervisory role strongly preferred.
