About the Role:

The Flat Laser Operator plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by precisely operating flat-sheet laser cutting machinery to fabricate metal components according to detailed specifications. This position requires a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and quality to ensure that all parts meet customer requirements and production deadlines. The operator will interpret technical drawings, job orders, and programming instructions to set up and adjust laser equipment for optimal cutting performance. The role also involves loading and unloading sheet material, monitoring the cutting process, performing quality inspections, and completing routine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime. Ultimately, the Flat Laser Operator contributes to the overall success of the production team by producing high-quality, precision‑cut metal components for various industrial applications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating flat laser cutting machinery or similar CNC equipment.
  • Basic understanding of technical drawings, blueprints, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Ability to perform precise measurements and quality inspections using standard measuring tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality protocols.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate flat laser cutting machines based on job orders, technical drawings, and production requirements.
  • Load and unload sheet metal materials, ensuring proper positioning and alignment for cutting.
  • Verify material type, thickness, dimensions, and job specifications before beginning production.
  • Monitor machine operation and cutting quality, making necessary adjustments to cutting parameters as needed.
  • Inspect finished parts for dimensional accuracy, cut quality, burrs, and other defects to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and inspections of laser cutting equipment to maintain optimal performance and safety.
  • Identify and troubleshoot machine or cutting issues and communicate problems to supervisors, maintenance personnel, or engineering as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records, including material usage, completed quantities, and production issues.
  • Work closely with production supervisors, programmers, quality personnel, and other team members to meet production schedules and improve efficiency.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including proper material handling, machine operation, and personal protective equipment requirements.
