Position Summary

The Flagger is responsible for directing traffic around construction sites, road maintenance areas, and other work zones. Responsibilities include setting up and removing traffic control signs, cones, and barricades to ensure safety. The role involves communicating with motorists using hand signals, signs, and traffic control devices. Candidates should have attention to detail, be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and stand for extended periods.

Essential Functions

• Set up signs, cones, and traffic control devices around work areas.
• Manage traffic flow with stop/slow paddles.
• Communicate effectively with team members via two-way radios.
• Stand, walk, and reach for up to 10 hours daily.
• Lift, carry, push, pull, and move items over 50 pounds.
• Operate company vehicles to transport equipment.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance.
• Work outdoors, exposed to weather, moving equipment, fumes, and airborne particles.
• Work environment noise is moderate to loud.
• Follow all company policies and perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

• Valid Driver’s License.
• Background check, including motor vehicle records.
• Drug test and compliance with federal DOT requirements.
• Proper safety equipment (boots, hard hat, glasses, vest).
• Operate two-way radio.
• Willingness to work in various weather and traffic conditions.
• Effective communication skills.
• Teamwork and reliability.
• Completion of ATSSA Flagger training and Defensive Driver training.
• Willingness to travel statewide, including overnight stays, nights, and weekends.
• Availability for rotating on-call schedule.
