Real Staffing is seeking a Medical Device Fixture & Equipment Design Electrical Engineer for a North San Jose, CA location. The 12-month initial contract focuses on PCBA design, embedded systems, and FPGA integration to ensure production-readiness and supplier alignment.

Responsibilities include overseeing PCBA/PCB designs through transitions to manufacturing, performing DFM/DFT reviews, and evaluating suppliers for FPGA/embedded capabilities. Python scripting aids validation and automation.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on PCBA and PCB design experience.
  • Knowledge of FPGA development or integration.
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems and low-level HW/SW interaction.
  • Python proficiency for embedded test automation and validation.

Technical Skills

Overview: Engineer specializing in PCBA design, embedded systems, and FPGA integration to support manufacturability, supplier readiness, and hardware lifecycle management. This role acts as a technical bridge between engineering design teams and supply chain operations to ensure that boards, embedded components, and electronics assemblies are production-ready, cost-effective, and robust for medical device manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical oversight of PCBA and PCB designs as they move from R&D into manufacturing and supplier environments.
  • Support DFM/DFT reviews, ensuring designs are optimized for scalable, reliable production.
  • Evaluate and guide suppliers on FPGA, embedded, and PCBA manufacturing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with sourcing, manufacturing engineering, and quality to qualify new suppliers and processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electronics manufacturing issues, including component failures, test yield problems, or firmware/hardware interaction issues.
  • Provide embedded-level support and verification; Python proficiency is required for scripting, automation, and testing across hardware systems.
  • Ensure all electronics-related supply chain activities meet medical‑device compliance and documentation standards.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience in PCBA and PCB design.
  • Knowledge of FPGA development or integration (preferred: hands‑on design background).
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems, including low-level hardware/software interaction.
  • Python proficiency for embedded test automation and system validation (required).
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Mechatronics.
  • Familiarity with electronics manufacturing, component sourcing, and supplier technical engagement.
  • Experience within medical devices or other regulated, high‑quality hardware industries (strong plus).
