Working Title: Fixed Term Clinical Track Assistant or Associate Professor

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Department of Craniofacial and Surgical Care offers diverse treatments for patients with craniofacial or oral and maxillofacial conditions, including complex oral health issues. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery discipline operates within the Adams School of Dentistry and UNC Hospitals, specializing in implant surgery, jaw tumors and diseases, trauma surgery, cleft palates, facial cosmetic surgery, and more.

Position Summary

Fixed Term Clinical Track Assistant or Associate Professor

The University of North Carolina invites applications for a fixed-term Clinical Track Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Department of Craniofacial and Surgical Care at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry and the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery at UNC Healthcare. Responsibilities include didactic and clinical instruction for residents, externs, medical students, and dental students, as well as participation in the Dental Faculty Practice. Maxillofacial call coverage at UNC Hospitals and the UNC School of Dentistry is required. An interest in cosmetic, temporomandibular joint, and/or implant surgery is preferred. A history of scholarly activity is desirable, and ongoing scholarly pursuits are expected. There are numerous collaboration opportunities within the university, including the dental school, medical school, and UNC Healthcare. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, leadership, patient care, service, and scholarship.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), Doctor of Medicine (MD), or equivalent degree, and board certification as a Diplomate of ABOMS. Must have completed at least three (3) years post-residency/fellowship. The candidate must have anesthesia training enabling eligibility for a NC general anesthesia permit.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

An MD degree is preferred but not required.
