Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company, the nation's largest producer of construction aggregates, is hiring for a general plant operator role in Illinois. You will support plant operations, prioritize safety, and contribute to reliable production.

Responsibilities include assisting with hand tools and cleaning, repairing equipment, inspecting machinery, operating heavy equipment, and performing miscellaneous duties as assigned. Candidates should be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety: actively prioritize safety in the operation in line with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
• Perform general physical activities: assist with plant operation using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials.
• Repair and maintain equipment: assist coworkers in servicing, repairing, and adjusting plant equipment.
• Inspect equipment and structures: perform daily inspections to ensure safe, reliable, compliant operations.
• Operate vehicles and equipment: operate heavy construction equipment or cleanup loaders as needed.
• Additional responsibilities: other duties as assigned.

What You\'ll Do:

Perform General Physical Activities. Perform various tasks assisting with the operation of the plant, including using hand tools, cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials.

Repair and Maintain Equipment. Assist co-workers in the servicing, repairing, and adjusting of various pieces of equipment throughout the plant.

Inspect Equipment and Structures. Perform daily inspections and maintenance of plant equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations that maximize production and minimize interruptions.

Operate Vehicles and Equipment. Operate heavy construction equipment or similar types of cleanup loaders to assist with the plant\'s operation.
