Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company is seeking a plant maintenance technician to support the operation of our aggregates processing facilities across the United States. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and hands-on maintenance of crushers, conveyors, screens, and related equipment.

You’ll work in an environment that values teamwork, flexible hours, and readiness to perform routine preventive maintenance, repairs, and equipment inspections to keep production running smoothly and safely.

Qualifications

• Experience in the aggregate or construction industry preferred.
• Knowledge of general principles of industrial maintenance, construction, or aggregate production preferred.
• Flexibility to work overtime and outdoors in all weather; tolerate loud noises.
• Basic knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Promote Safety: prioritize safety per MSHA and Vulcan standards.
• Repair and Maintain Plant Equipment: repairs to conveyors, crushers, wear parts, pumps, and related components; cutting, grinding, welding as needed.
• Inspect Equipment and Structures: daily inspections to ensure safe, reliable operations.
• Monitor Processes and Materials: oversee plant areas to identify issues and ensure compliance.
• Document and Record Information: update service and lubrication reports for preventive maintenance.
• Perform General Physical Activities: assist with plant operations, cleaning, washing, shoveling materials.
• Additional Responsibilities: other duties as assigned.

Skills You’ll Need

• Experience. Previous experience in the aggregate or construction industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of Best Practices. Knowledge of general principles and practices of industrial maintenance, construction, or aggregate production is preferred.
• Flexibility. Must be able to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions andtolerate being exposed to loud noises.
• Mechanical Skills. Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

• Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.
• Repair and Maintain Plant Equipment. Perform repairs and maintenance throughout the plant including screen changes, conveyor belt repair and adjustment, wear parts replacement, crusher liner changes, and water pump service. Perform cutting, grinding, and welding as needed.
• Inspect Equipment and Structures. Perform daily inspections and maintenance of the plant equipment in order to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations to maximize production and minimize interruptions.
• Monitor Processes and Materials. Monitor and review the plant, specifically various aggregate crushing, washing, and screening areas to identify problems and ensure safety and materials compliance.
• Document and Record Information. Enter and maintain service and lubrication reports regarding the plant equipment used to ensure preventative maintenance is up to date.
• Perform General Physical Activities. Perform a variety of tasks that assist with the operation of the plant, including cleaning, washing, sweeping, and shoveling materials.
• Additional Responsibilities. Other Duties As Assigned.
