Citi is looking for an experienced structurer to join its Fixed Income Structuring team, where you will design and deliver innovative solutions for corporate and investor clients across rates and credit. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of client advisory, quantitative analysis, and product development, working in close partnership with sales and trading to bring new ideas and payoffs to market. You will act as a recognized subject matter authority within the team, shaping client strategies and contributing directly to the commercial performance of Citi's fixed income franchise.
This role is posted at the Director level; however, we welcome applications from candidates at the Vice President and Associate Vice President level who demonstrate the right blend of experience and ambition.
Responsibilities
- Structure and price interest rate derivative solutions for institutional clients, balancing client objectives against market risk, counterparty credit risk, funding, and capital considerations.
- Identify commercial opportunities within the space and develop new trade ideas and payoffs in partnership with sales and trading colleagues.
- Model payoff structures and conduct risk and P&L analysis to evaluate and support the delivery of new products through internal approval processes.
- Build customized back-tests and quantitative analysis to support client pitches, transaction decisions, and ongoing portfolio assessment.
- Drive pre-trade and post-sales activity by working closely with institutional sales teams to develop client-ready materials and lead client-facing presentations and meetings.
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Finance, and Audit functions to maintain robust governance and controls across all structured transactions.
- Assess the risk and reward profile of transactions with integrity, ensuring sound judgement and consideration for Citi's reputation in every business decision.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 6 to 12 years of structuring experience gained within a financial institution, with a clear focus on fixed income or derivative products.
- Deep technical knowledge of complex derivative products, including their features, risk characteristics, pricing mechanics, and client applications.
- Quantitative and analytical capability, with the ability to model payoffs, run risk scenarios, and draw actionable conclusions from complex data sets.
- Demonstrated ability to translate client needs into structured financial solutions, working collaboratively across sales, trading, and control functions.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas credibly to both clients and internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
Beneficial Skills & Qualifications
- Experience structuring corporate derivative solutions across both rates and credit, with a track record of client-facing delivery.
- Exposure to securities financing structures such as repo or total return swaps.
- Familiarity with repack structures, particularly in the context of US insurance client mandates.
- Exposure to structured notes, with specific experience in credit linked notes.
- Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in a quantitative or finance-related discipline.
What We Offer
At Citi, you will work alongside experienced professionals in a high-performing team that operates at the forefront of fixed income structuring. This role offers the depth and breadth of a global franchise, with real commercial ownership and the opportunity to develop client relationships across the corporate derivatives space.
- A hybrid working arrangement of 3 days in the office and 2 days working remote, giving you flexibility alongside team collaboration.
- Exposure to a broad range of structured products and client types, deepening your expertise across rates, credit, and securities financing.
- The opportunity to work directly with senior sales and trading partners, giving you genuine commercial influence within the fixed income business.
- Access to Citi's global network and resources, enabling you to develop ideas and bring products to market at scale.
- Ongoing learning and professional development support to help you grow your technical and client advisory capabilities.
