Job summary

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Specialist, Reliability - Inspection to join the Equipment Reliability Group at our Cedar Bayou facility. You will drive fixed equipment inspection programs, improve asset integrity, and ensure safe, compliant operations across pressure vessels, piping, and tanks.

Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in inspection and repair of furnaces, pressure vessels, storage tanks, piping systems, or fixed equipment.
  • Knowledge of fixed equipment codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of welding and NDT methods.
  • Ability to certify Visual Acuity.
  • Ability to read/interpret drawings (P&IDs, construction isometrics, inspection isometrics) and field sketch isometrics as needed.
  • Ability to manage electronic databases (Meridium, SAP).
  • API 510, API 570 certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance to project management regarding the selection of tools, instruments, and test equipment to assist in the project quality control effort
  • Undertakes equipment Inspection tasks and report results as required
  • Identifies and recommends intervention optimizations and improvement methods
  • Performs site inspections and inspections follow ups in adherence with the defined scope, methods, and procedures
  • Plans and carries out equipment inspection via on-stream risk-based monitoring programs and downtime inspection activities
  • Completes equipment safety checklist prior to using any mobile equipment
  • Performs general inspections on all equipment handled
  • Performs routine and non-routine housekeeping required to maintain designated process area clean and safe
  • Operates, monitors and troubleshoots equipment used during daily manufacturing
  • Conducts routine equipment inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment; maintains accurate records

Introduction

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Specialist, Reliability - Inspection to join the Equipment Reliability Group at our Cedar Bayou manufacturing facility. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining reliability, mechanical integrity, and regulatory compliance of pressure vessels, piping, and aboveground storage tanks through the site's fixed equipment inspection and asset integrity programs.

The successful candidate will develop and implement inspection strategies, reliability plans, and condition monitoring programs to proactively identify risks, evaluate equipment condition, prevent equipment failures, and optimize asset performance. This position requires close collaboration with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams to initiate inspection-related recommendations and work notifications in APM (Meridium) and SAP, support maintenance planning, and ensure safe, reliable operations.

As a key technical resource, you will serve as a subject matter expert for Management of Change (MOC) reviews, participate in failure investigations, and support capital and expense projects for fixed equipment. You will also oversee contractor compliance with applicable codes and standards, and provide technical guidance on inspection, maintenance, and non-destructive examination (NDE) activities. Through these efforts, you will play an integral role in driving continuous improvement in equipment reliability, asset integrity, and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in API 653, API 580, CWI
  • AMPP CIP 1/2/3, AMPP CP 1 & 2
  • General Ethylene, Polyethylene or Utility manufacturing process experience and background in associated equipment inspection
  • Working knowledge of APM (Meridium) and SAP
