Job summary

Hersha Hotels & Resorts is seeking a detail-oriented junior accountant to maintain the fixed asset subledger for multiple hotel properties and the corporate office. You will calculate depreciation, reconcile assets to the general ledger, and assist with monthly and year-end close processes.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting and 0–2 years of accounting experience, with knowledge of GAAP, journal entries, and reconciliations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
• 0-2 years of accounting experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and core accounting concepts, including debits, credits, and account reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the fixed asset subledger for multiple hotel properties and the corporate office, including recording additions, disposals, and transfers.
• Calculate and record monthly depreciation, and reconcile fixed asset balances to the general ledger.
• Manage property tax compliance, including tracking assessments and due dates, reviewing and processing tax bills, and supporting the appeals process as needed.
• Process vendor invoices and code them to the correct general ledger accounts, departments, and cost centers; process weekly payment runs.
• Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, and depreciation.
• Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and reports, including variance analysis and supporting schedules.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation and assist with gathering support for audit requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and support special projects as assigned.
