Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
• Two years as cook in a large-scale cooking operation preferred.
• One year’s work experience in long term care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meal items according to planned menus and recipes; informs supervisor of menu changes.
• Reviews menus and census to determine food quantities.
• Prepares food following safety guidelines and state/federal codes.
• Assists with food ordering, storage and prep to ensure timely service.
• Maintains standards for food quality and uses substitutions as needed.
• Operates kitchen equipment (blenders, mixers, slicer, steamer, oven, range).
• Prepares diet-consistent items and special function meals as needed.
• Cleans work areas, follows sanitation schedules and proper packaging.
