Expansion Joints Machinist

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare the operation.
• Select best method of machining to achieve desired tolerance, speed and finish.
• Perform calculations to form the work piece.
• Monitor feed rate and speed of the machine.
• Select tools and materials for the job, plan sequence of cutting and finishing operations, and mark the work piece to show where cuts should be made.
• Perform necessary machining & grinding operations using equipment including but not limited to: a beveling machine, plasma torch, hand grinder, hand torch, chop saw, and pedestal grinder.
• React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow English instructions.
• Ability to read and understand all measuring devices.
• Ability to operate a lift truck.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 70 pounds; transfer 50–100 pounds with the help of another person. Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Ability to use hand and power tools. Good vision required.
