Job summary

NWPX Infrastructure in Michigan seeks a Fitter-Welder to fit elbows, weld to specifications, and grind finished pieces under supervision. The role involves laying out, positioning, aligning components, cutting with torches, and documenting work per quality and safety standards.

You will work with SMAW, FCAW, and SAW welding processes, operate welding machines, grinders, and overhead cranes, and may assist in guiding fellow welders.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate from college or technical school or 3–6 months related experience or equivalent.
• On-the-job training by experienced fitters; performance-based qualification.

Responsibilities

• Fits elbow and attachment using torch and tack welding.
• Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
• Cuts products with torch and other tools.
• Gouges welds and grinds welds/fabricated pieces.
• Welds products according to plans and specifications.
• Completes proper documentation.
• Moves pipe with overhead crane.
