JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB SUMMARY
The Fitter/Welder III is responsible for welding and fitting jobs, ensuring weldments are welded using the correct procedures and built to print dimensions in a timely manner. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, this position reports to the Manufacturing Lead/Crew Chief. The welder will work alongside the assembly team to complete full trailer or skidded assemblies.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform complex welding tasks using wire feed gun (flux core), stick welding (7018), and possibly TIG welding processes.
- Layout, fit up, and fabricate complex structural forms.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings accurately.
- Fabricate jigs and fixtures to meet quality standards.
- Follow prescribed weld procedures precisely.
- Work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Operate oxygen/acetylene cutting torches safely and accurately.
- Follow work routers and documentations accurately.
- Report technical problems to the Manufacturing Lead/Crew Chief and assist in resolving them.
- Adhere to safe work practices and policies.
- Strive to improve efficiency and meet delivery goals.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, practicing safe habits.
- Perform additional work-related tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of welding experience in shop or field environments.
- Experience operating welding equipment in fabrication.
- Experience with cutting and plasma torches.
- Experience in layout, fit-up, and inspection of weldments.
- Mentoring experience is a plus.
- Ability to pass 6G weld bend tests in FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and TIG.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and related applications.
