JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY

The Fitter/Welder III is responsible for welding and fitting jobs, ensuring weldments are welded using the correct procedures and built to print dimensions in a timely manner. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, this position reports to the Manufacturing Lead/Crew Chief. The welder will work alongside the assembly team to complete full trailer or skidded assemblies.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Perform complex welding tasks using wire feed gun (flux core), stick welding (7018), and possibly TIG welding processes.
  2. Layout, fit up, and fabricate complex structural forms.
  3. Interpret complex engineering drawings accurately.
  4. Fabricate jigs and fixtures to meet quality standards.
  5. Follow prescribed weld procedures precisely.
  6. Work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  7. Operate oxygen/acetylene cutting torches safely and accurately.
  8. Follow work routers and documentations accurately.
  9. Report technical problems to the Manufacturing Lead/Crew Chief and assist in resolving them.
  10. Adhere to safe work practices and policies.
  11. Strive to improve efficiency and meet delivery goals.
  12. Maintain a clean and organized work area, practicing safe habits.
  13. Perform additional work-related tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  2. At least 5 years of welding experience in shop or field environments.
  3. Experience operating welding equipment in fabrication.
  4. Experience with cutting and plasma torches.
  5. Experience in layout, fit-up, and inspection of weldments.
  6. Mentoring experience is a plus.
  7. Ability to pass 6G weld bend tests in FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and TIG.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and related applications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Ability to pass drug screening and background checks.
  2. Knowledge of SMAW and GMAW welding processes and blueprint interpretation.
  3. Organizational skills for documentation and workspace management.
  4. Ability to read and understand instructions and memos.
  5. Problem-solving skills in standardized situations.
  6. Ability to work independently and in teams.
  7. Willingness to cross-train and adapt to various job duties.
  8. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, push/pull, and perform repetitive movements for up to 12 hours daily.
