This position is based in Fort Worth, Texas, and reports to the Manufacturing Lead/Crew Chief. The Fitter/Welder III is responsible for welding and fitting tasks, ensuring weldments are made according to specified procedures and dimensions, and working alongside the assembly team to complete trailer or skidded assemblies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform complex welding tasks using wire feed gun (flux core), stick welding (7018), and possibly TIG welding processes.
- Layout, fit up, and fabricate complex structural forms.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings accurately.
- Fabricate jigs and fixtures to meet quality standards.
- Follow weld procedures precisely.
- Operate oxygen/acetylene cutting torch safely and accurately.
- Follow work routers and report technical issues to supervisors.
- Maintain safe work practices and a clean work environment.
- Contribute to improving efficiency and meeting delivery goals.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of welding experience in shop or field environments.
- Experience with welding equipment, cutting torches, plasma torches, and inspection of weldments.
- Ability to pass 6G weld bend tests in FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and TIG.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and related applications.
Job Requirements
- Ability to pass drug screening and background checks.
- Competence in SMAW and GMAW welding processes and blueprint reading.
- Strong organizational skills and safety adherence.
- Ability to read instructions and handle problem-solving in standardized situations.
- Work well independently and in teams, with adaptability and multitasking skills.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive movements for up to 12 hours daily in a factory environment with temperature variations.
