JOB SUMMARY
The Fitter/Welder III is responsible for welding and fitting jobs, ensuring weldments are welded using the correct procedures and built to print dimensions in a timely manner. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, this position reports to the Manufacturing Lead/Crew Chief. The role involves working alongside other assembly team members to complete full trailer or skidded assemblies.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform complex welding tasks using wire feed gun (flux core), stick welding (7018), and possibly TIG welding processes.
- Layout, fit up, and fabricate complex and difficult structural forms.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings accurately.
- Fabricate complex jigs and fixtures to meet or exceed quality standards.
- Follow prescribed weld procedures precisely.
- Work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Operate oxygen/acetylene cutting torches safely and accurately.
- Follow work router information accurately.
- Report technical problems to the Manufacturing Lead/Crew Chief or Supervisor and assist in resolving them.
- Adhere to safe work practices.
- Improve efficiency and meet delivery goals.
- Comply with NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and practice safe work habits.
- Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education and experience.
- At least 5 years of welding experience in a shop or field environment.
- Experience operating welding equipment used in fabrication.
- Experience with cutting and plasma torches.
- Experience in layout, fit-up, and inspection of weldments.
- Mentoring experience in layout, fit-up, welding, and inspection is a plus.
- Ability to pass 6G weld bend tests in FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and TIG processes.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
