Job Description

Base pay starts at $22.00 per hour plus $1.00 shift differential. 2nd Shift starts at 6:00 PM. Hours may vary depending on operations. This position offers overtime based on work orders and season with shifts of 8, 10, and 12 hours.

Location: 7301 Fairview Street, Houston, TX 77041.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Fitter/Welder must be competent in welding and fitting skills for pipe, tube, CJP scenarios.
• Fit up all types of rigid frame columns, rafters, and beam canopies according to specifications.
• Know and understand all safety rules and precautions necessary for working in and around a manufacturing environment.
• Maintain AWS and CWB certifications.
• Interpret blueprints and/or sketches to determine parts required.
• Measure, mark, count, and locate components; advise the Team Leader of discrepancies or shortages.
• Position sub-assemblies using clamping devices and material handling equipment.
• Use necessary tools and measuring devices, templates to join parts per blueprints while maintaining tolerances; tacking and welding with flame cutting, flame heating, arc gouging, or mechanical equipment as required.
• Align parts, bevel or cut flanges, webs, stiffeners as required.
• Install metal tags and use assigned personal ID stamp in designated area when operation is completed.
• Maintain correct numerical and alphabetical sequences.
• Participate in continuous improvement practices in the work area.
• May be assigned additional projects or duties by the Team Leader.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Minimum of one year experience in welding and fitting in a production environment or valid welding certification.
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CWB and AWS welding certifications in accordance with Cornerstone Building Brands welding procedures.
• Experience with forklift and/or overhead crane operation is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds continuously on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist.
