Job summary

Trails Park and Recreation District in Centennial, CO seeks a Fitness and Wellness Supervisor to lead the department, shape programs, manage budgets, and supervise staff. The role ensures services align with community needs and district goals, with emphasis on safety and inclusivity.

You will oversee program planning, staff development, and collaboration with local health partners, while maintaining certifications and driving high-quality fitness experiences for all ages.

Qualifications

• Requires major course work in recreation or related field from an accredited college/university.
• Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the parks and recreation field, including fitness program management/administration.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience supervising fitness and wellness staff.
• Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office software applications, and recreation software programs.
• Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask, problem solve, and create and maintain a respectful, welcoming environment.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
• CPR and First Aid certifications upon hire.
• Possession of current ACSM, ACE, or other nationally recognized fitness certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee planning, development, scheduling, promotion, and evaluation of Fitness/Wellness programs.
• Prepare annual budget for Fitness/Wellness department.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and schedule part-time staff and contract personnel.
• Manage personnel functions including evaluations and discipline.
• Maintain program standards, risk management, and emergency procedures.
• Ensure staff maintain certifications with ACE, AFAA, ACSM, CPR/AED/First Aid.
• Plan cooperative programs with local hospitals and health organizations.
• Respond to patrons within 24–48 hours.
• Champion a positive work environment and teamwork.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by Recreation Manager.
