Job summary

Threshold Gym in Oklahoma City is seeking a full-time fitness instructor. You will deliver group and personal training, lead clients with engaging coaching, and promote Threshold memberships. Expect gym upkeep, class planning, and adherence to Threshold policies.

A climbing background and relevant certifications are required or in progress. Position requires at least 2 years teaching fitness and 2 years climbing experience, with MindBody proficiency and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience teaching in group fitness and individual training.
  • 2+ years of climbing experience to understand movement and technique.
  • CPR/AED certification required or willingness to obtain before teaching.
  • AMGA CWI qualification is preferred.
  • CPR/AED and quarterly safety trainings maintain certifications.

Description

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Deliver pre-designed and custom fitness workouts to individuals and/or groups, while adhering to Threshold fitness instruction policies.
  • Lead and motivate clients throughout intense training.
  • Build and maintain a highly engaged member.
  • Connect and reconnect with clients to encourage continued class attendance and support students' growth.
  • Promote Threshold memberships and services.
  • Educate students on correct technique while providing modifications for posture during their fitness session and as appropriate for their success and this includes modifying specific exercises to accommodate the various skill levels in the gym.
  • Attend weekly and monthly meetings with management.
  • Be a fitness leader in this Live a lifestyle similar to the way you want Threshold clients to live theirs.
  • Knowledgeable about and adherence to the Threshold fitness guidelines on verbal and physical, assists.
  • Adhere to the Threshold program instructor attendance policy which includes that fitness instructors are present at the studio 15-30 minutes prior and 15-30 minutes after their class instruction.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the gym: before, after, and in-between classes, including organization and storage of props, mats and other implements (including ropes, weights, and/or sandbags.)
  • Comply with the Threshold Class Planning Protocol. All class preparation and planning must be done within the studio premises during the 15-30 minutes before or after class, or during a scheduled class planning session with the Supervisor.
  • Minimum of 2 permanent group classes per week is required.
  • Minimum of 2 personal training sessions per week is required.
  • Secure a substitute instructor when unable to instruct a scheduled class, remind substitute at least 24 hours in advance, and notify supervisor of change.
  • Must be an employee or approved contractor.
  • Understand and efficiently navigate MindBody (MBO) software to sign students in and process other front desk transactions.
  • At all times, be respectful and compliant with corporate rules, policies, and procedures in addition to management direction, as stated in the Employee Handbook.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

  • Required - National based certification(s) from a recognized national certifying aerobics organization such as NDIETA, NETA, ACE, USWFA, AEA, NASM, or others.
  • 2+ years of experience teaching in group and individual fitness
  • 2+ years of climbing experience to understand movement, technique, and muscle groups used for the sport.
  • American Mountain Guide Association (AMGA) CWI qualification
  • Knowledge in route-setting preferred, no certification is
  • Current CPR/AED certification required (or a willingness to acquire such certification prior to teaching at Threshold)
  • Quarterly Safety Training and training required to maintain certifications
  • Degree in exercise science or related field required
  • Higher Education Degree in exercise science or related certification preferred
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • A clear passion for health and fitness which inspires students
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead students in physical activity for a maximum 5 hours at a time
  • Ability to adapt and incorporate changes to the class sessions (i.e., outdoor sessions are fun too-when weather cooperates)
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Proficiency in Boot Camp style training
  • Extremely Detail-Oriented, dedicated, and committed to Threshold's health and fitness success
