Job summary

Thayer County Health Services in Hebron, NE seeks a Fitness Instructor (PRN) to lead group classes and provide personalized training in a welcoming, professional Wellness Center. The role requires energy, strong communication, and a commitment to safety and client success.

You will work with a friendly team to promote health and wellness, set up equipment, and ensure high-quality customer service for all participants.

Qualifications

• Certified in the classes being taught.
• Personal Training Certification (if applicable).
• Knowledgeable about equipment use required for courses taught.
• Knowledgeable about health and fitness and able to communicate knowledge effectively to customers.
• Reliable, responsible and mature with ability to motivate others.
• Self-motivated, takes initiative and can work without supervision.
• CPR and first aid certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sets up class equipment as needed.
• Reports any incident to supervisor.
• Performs health risk and safety assessments with clients before and during training sessions.
• Communicates with members and clients during classes and sessions.
• Promotes health and wellness while upholding Wellness Center standards.
• Greets guests with a smile and upholds great customer service.
• Informs front desk of pertinent information at shift end.
• Notifies supervisor of any issues from members or guests.
• Ensures participants sign in and waiver is on file.
• Assists with lifting and storing equipment for events.
• Cleans and puts away equipment after each class.
• All other tasks as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The fitness instructor will lead fitness classes and personal training sessions in a fun and safe environment. The instructor must have a positive, professional, outgoing personality, be encouraging to participants, and enjoy being in front of a group. Instructor must exhibit enthusiasm for the Wellness Center and for health and fitness. The instructor must be accommodating to the abilities of each participant in the class or individualized session, and work to promote health and wellness while upholding the wellness center’s operating standards in a professional manner at all times.

SHIFT: PRN, as needed SUPERVISION:Wellness Center Director

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certified in the classes being taught.
• Personal Training Certification (if applicable)
• Knowledgeable about equipment use required for courses taught
• Knowledgeable about health and fitness, and able to communicate knowledge effectively to customers
• Reliable, responsible, and mature with ability to motivate others
• Self-motivated, takes initiative, and is able to work without supervision
• CPR and first aid certification, preferred

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sets up class equipment as needed.
• Reports any incident or accident supervisor.
• Performs personal health risk and safety assessments with clients before and during training sessions.
• Practices good communication with clients and members during exercise classes and personal training sessions.
• Provides information to members, clients and class participants regarding health and fitness when requested.
• Becomes knowledgeable about the Wellness Center and its amenities in order to effectively communicate with members and/or guests.
• Helps ensure the Wellness Center is only accessed by members, guests, and class participants; and that it is safe and secure at all times.
• Greets each and every guest with a smile and direct eye contact, always upholding great customer service. Ability to work under pressure and solve problems in a professional manner.
• Informs front desk attendant(s) of pertinent information at the end of the shift.
• Informs supervisor of any member, guest, or Wellness Center issues.
• Ensure each class participant signs in properly and has signed a participant waiver.
• Assists staff with lifting and storing Wellness Center equipment, furniture, and products to help maintain Wellness Center and prepare for special events.
• Cleans and puts away exercise equipment after each class and assists front desk staff with aerobic room cleaning as necessary.
• All other tasks as assigned.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

• Maintains and promotes good health practices.
• Will conform to TCHS policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.
• Understand and comply with the requirements of Thayer County Health Services’ Compliance Program, including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, and the Compliance Manual. All supporting policies for compliance and compliance plans.
• Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by organizational policy and as requested by supervisor.
• Willingly accepts new responsibilities and cooperates with implementation of change.
• Dresses in neat, clean professional attire according to Dress Policy; maintains high personal hygiene standards.
• Demonstrates respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence through a “We Care” philosophy with all patients, visitors, and TCHS staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable the senses to function adequately for the requirements of position to be fully met.
