Responsibilities

• Welcome Fitness Center users and provide friendly, professional customer service.
• Monitor the Fitness Center during assigned shifts to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.

• Clean and sanitize fitness equipment and frequently touched surfaces.
• Keep equipment, supplies, and the facility clean and organized.
• Remind users to return equipment to proper locations.
• Answer general questions about hours, policies, and available equipment.
• Report damaged equipment or safety concerns to supervisor.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned.
• Collaborate with Fitness Center staff and other student employees.

The Fitness Center Worker helps maintain a welcoming, clean, organized, and safe environment for all Fitness Center users. The student serves as a friendly point of contact during open hours, assists users with general questions, monitors the facility, and supports daily Fitness Center operations.This position provides students with an opportunity to develop customer service, communication, responsibility, and leadership skills while contributing to a positive campus environment.Responsibilities and Duties:Welcome Fitness Center users and provide friendly, professional customer service.Monitor the Fitness Center during assigned shifts to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment.Maintain the Fitness Center sign-in and sign-out process.Clean and sanitize fitness equipment and frequently touched surfaces as needed.Help keep equipment, supplies, and the facility clean, organized, and presentable.Remind users to return equipment to its proper location after use.Answer general questions about Fitness Center hours, policies, procedures, and available equipment.Communicate Fitness Center policies and expectations to users in a respectful and professional manner.Report damaged equipment, safety concerns, maintenance issues, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.Assist with basic opening and closing procedures as assigned.Work collaboratively with Fitness Center staff and other student employees.Perform other related duties that support the daily operation of the Fitness Center.Learning Outcomes:Through this position, the student will have the opportunity to:Develop customer service and communication skills through regular interaction with students, faculty, staff, and other Fitness Center users.Develop professional responsibility and accountability by maintaining a consistent presence and completing assigned facility tasks.Strengthen leadership and problem-solving skills by responding appropriately to routine questions and facility concerns.Develop teamwork and collaboration skills by working with Fitness Center staff and other student employees.Gain experience in maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming shared campus environment.Minimum Requirements:Mitchell College student enrolled at full-time.Good academic standing.Eligible for Federal Work-Study.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Dependable and responsible.Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with a diverse group of Fitness Center users.Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.Physical Requirements:Ability to stand and walk for portions of the assigned shift.Ability to move and return fitness equipment and supplies as needed.Ability to lift moderate weight safely.Ability to perform routine cleaning and sanitizing tasks.
