Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Erie is seeking a part-time Fitness Center staff member at our Glenwood Location to assist members with orientations and ensure a safe, clean workout environment.

You will help members with proper techniques, maintain equipment, and provide friendly, helpful service on a flexible schedule that includes weekends. This role offers meaningful interaction and partnerships within our community.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Certified in First Aid and CPR.
• Experience with Nautilus, universal, free weight and cardiovascular equipment.
• Strong human relation skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist members with orientations and provide instruction on proper technique.
• Keep the Fitness Center and free weight area clean and safe at all times.
• Serve as a liaison between members and branch management and communicate daily with members.
• Ensure equipment operates correctly and complies with YMCA standards.

The YMCA of Greater Erie is looking to hire a part-time staff member for our Fitness Center for our Glenwood Location. Are you experienced with fitness equipment and techniques? Do you love working with people and watching them achieve their health goals? If so, please read on!

This position pays up to $16.48/hour based on experience.

PART-TIME WORK SCHEDULE

This typical schedule for this part-time position is up to 20 hours hours per week. Weekend shifts (Saturdays/Sundays).

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FITNESS CENTER STAFF MEMBER

As a STAFF MEMBER IN OUR FITNESS CENTER at the YMCA, you assist the members in ensuring a positive and enriching experience for all. Always alert, you provide proper instruction for the members as you give orientations and move about the Fitness Center floor. You are careful to keep the fitness center and free weight room clean and safe at all times.

You are friendly and patient as you assist with the orientation of new members and facilitate the onboarding of each member into the YMCA. As a key liaison between members and branch management, you keep this good rapport going as you communicate with members on a daily basis.

With enthusiasm, you provide instruction emphasizing safety and proper technique. You are also conscientious about keeping equipment operating and ensuring compliance with YMCA standards.
