Job summary

The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division is seeking a Fitness Center Attendant at the Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Chicago. You will assist, orient members, verify memberships, enforce safety rules, and support volunteers under the Fitness Center Manager.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years with fitness equipment, 18+ years old, CPR/First Aid/AED, and basic computer skills. This is a non-exempt, on-site role with a pay range of $17.05–$20.70.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency. Certification or a degree in related field or level of experience preferred.
• Two years or more experience working with fitness center equipment.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have current credentials and/or certificates and /or license, if required.
• Experience with a computer based work environment.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist under supervision of Fitness Center Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness of facility by cleaning equipment and training areas.
• Offer weight room orientation/instructional sessions to members.
• Verify membership status.
• Ensure safe usage of facility by patrons.
• Provide information and answer questions about programs.
• Report equipment and facility problems to the Manager.
• Enforce facility rules and safety regulations.
• Work with volunteers on a professional level.
• Assist in emergencies or accidents.
• Handle disputes professionally.
• Maintain a safe working environment and report issues.
• Follow Salvation Army policies and procedures.
• Maintain Code of Ethics for Kroc Center.
• Recognize spiritual needs of individuals and refer to pastoral team.
• Perform other duties as directed.
