The fitness Assistant monitors the fitness spaces in the Weinstein Center for Recreation and Wellness to ensure cleanliness, safety, and supervision of the facility and its members. The role assists with the daily operations of the facility and circulates during shift, maintaining a visible presence with a focus on monitoring the upstairs and downstairs fitness spaces. Members are assisted with questions on how to use equipment properly.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety assistance in the weight room (spotting) as needed.
• Perform preventative maintenance of fitness equipment—ensure members re‑rack weights, clean equipment, organize multipurpose rooms and stretching spaces.
• Accurately explain policies & procedures related to group exercise, personal training, and fitness special events.
• Ensure all facility supplies are maintained (paper towels, hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, cleaning spray bottles) and work with the On‑Duty Facility Supervisor to access supplies.
• Enforce policies and procedures and provide customer service by answering members’ questions.
• Assist with any setup, breakdown, or special projects as assigned.
• Collect towels from bins, locker rooms, and massage room sheets; wash, dry, and fold towels to maintain inventory on racks.
• Report maintenance and repair needs to the Equipment Manager, Fitness Manager, and/or On‑Duty Facility Manager.
• Serve as a first responder in the event of an emergency in the Weinstein Center.
• Attend and participate in departmental employee training programs.

Qualifications

• Current CPR/AED certification required within 30 days of hire.

• Schedule varies; some evenings and weekends required.
