Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) seeks an experienced Fish Passage Design Manager to lead the Fish Passage Section for the Olympic Region and provide statewide technical leadership in fish passage, stream restoration, and scour design. The role requires coordinating with engineers, regulatory agencies, Tribal governments, and partners to deliver practical, resilient solutions.

You will mentor staff, shape statewide engineering practices, and drive long-term strategies

Qualifications

• Requires advanced expertise in fish passage, stream restoration, streambed scour, and transportation hydraulics.
• Leads development, interpretation, and implementation of engineering and environmental policies.
• Ability to align programs statewide and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience managing large-scale programs with budgeting and resource allocation.

Responsibilities

• Lead statewide fish passage and stream restoration policy and standards.
• Direct the Fish Passage Design program and provide statewide technical authority.
• Oversee hydraulic and restoration design products ensuring technical justification and standards compliance.
• Mentor staff and coordinate with agencies, Tribes, and partners.
