Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Social Services is hiring a Fiscal Technician I to support county financial operations, including processing transactions and maintaining essential financial summaries and audit trails. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or higher required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• The Fiscal Technician I performs complex financial and accounting duties for the county office, including financial transactions for all county operating accounts and preparing financial summaries and statistical reports.
• Maintains an audit trail of all financial records and ensures compliance with policy.
• Screens and authorizes expenditure requests, advising staff as needed to ensure policy compliance.
• Builds and maintains spreadsheets for tracking allocation and expenditure of Independent Living funds; acts as liaison for accounting matters and reports for audits.
• Procures supplies and equipment in line with procurement laws; maintains records of requisitions and purchases.
• Reviews and processes routine accounts payable/receivable and staff travel reimbursements.
• Serves as agency Vehicle Coordinator; manages fleet operations and vehicle maintenance.
• Protects PII, safeguards networks and data; performs disaster management duties and participates in DSNAP as required.
• Retrieves mail, processes outgoing mail, and provides backup support for front desk and staff.
