Educational Service Center of Central Ohio in Columbus, OH is seeking a Fiscal Specialist to assist with the fiscal operations of the Center. You will perform administrative tasks, maintain records, process transactions, and support auditors as needed.

The role requires strong accounting skills, accuracy in data entry, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. A high school diploma with additional training is desirable, and a valid driver's license may be required.

  • Experience with governmental fiscal operating procedures is desirable.

  • Proficient in office protocol and the use of information technology systems.
  • Congenial telephone etiquette.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative support duties.
  • Take the initiative to perform routine tasks independently.
  • Organize and maintain a functional filing system that ensures the safe retention and efficient retrieval of office records.
  • Uphold Board policies and follow administrative guidelines and procedures.
  • Promote a favorable image of the service center.
  • Respect personal privacy and maintain confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Answer the phone and direct calls based on the nature of the inquiry.
  • Take/deliver messages.
  • Keep current with program, policy, and procedure changes.
  • Help keep staff informed about relevant issues.
  • Refer inquiries requiring policy interpretation to administrative staff.
  • Use a computer to prepare and process information (e.g., input, compile, tabulate, post, store, retrieve, scan, modify, print, etc.).
  • Verify the accuracy of database information as directed.
  • Compose and type routine correspondence, memos, notes, forms, etc.
  • Collect, compile, edit, and type statistical data and reports as directed.
  • Use photocopying, duplicating equipment, and printers to produce documents.
  • Fix minor equipment Malfunctions and contact appropriate staff to schedule repairs as needed.
  • Maintain office transaction records (e.g., petty cash, receipts, contributions, etc.).
  • Process mail and faxes.
  • Type, duplicate, assemble, and process routine and special mailings.
  • Assist with committee assignments and/or special projects as directed.
  • Prepare purchase orders as directed.
  • Monitor and reorder office supplies as needed.
  • Maintain forms related to administrative guidelines/procedures and program functions.
  • Assemble data for financial analysis/forecasting when requested.
  • Work cooperatively with auditors.
  • Serve as a backup for various positions within the Center.
  • Maintain an orderly office.
  • Periodically discards archived records as directed and by the record retention and disposal schedule adopted by the Governing Board.
  • Keep current with advances in office technology.
  • Assist other staff when needed or requested.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.
  • Accept personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
  • Strive to develop rapport and serve as a positive role model for others.
  • Perform other specific job-related duties as directed by the Executive Director/designee.
