Job summary

Illinois Board of Higher Education is seeking a Fiscal Analyst to perform financial analysis and coordinate budget development and implementation for the state's higher education system. The role reports to the Director of Higher Education Finance Policy in Springfield.

You will oversee data collection, reporting, and analysis across operating and capital budgets, supporting strategic planning and policy initiatives.

Qualifications

• Four years combined education/work experience in financial analysis, accounting, business, economics, finance, or statistics
• Expert-level Excel with PivotTables and large dataset analysis
• Knowledge of financial reporting, federal/state/university accounting practices, and financial systems
• Strong project management and time management skills with ability to work independently
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and problem-solve

The Fiscal Analyst performs financial analysis and coordinates budget development and implementation for the Illinois Board of Higher Education. The role manages data collection, reporting, and analysis across operating and capital budget cycles for the state's higher education system, while supporting strategic planning and policy initiatives. This is a full-time salaried position reporting to the Director of Higher Education Finance Policy in Springfield.

Key qualifications:

• Four years combined education/work experience in financial analysis, accounting, business, economics, finance, or statistics
• Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills including complex formulas, PivotTables, and large dataset analysis
• Knowledge of financial reporting, federal/state/university accounting practices, and financial systems
• Strong project management and time management skills with ability to work independently
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and problem-solve
