The First-Year Experience Ambassador position is a Spring 2027 – Spring 2028 commitment with ranges of required hours as explained in more detail below:
First-Year Experience ( FYE ) Ambassadors play a critical role in shaping a student’s first-year experience at UK. FYE Ambassadors are the face of orientations and assist in facilitating the Big Blue Nation Orientations, Merit Days, Kentucky Science Olympiad, and Bluegrass Days. FYEAs lead small-group sessions for new students, provide guidance throughout orientation programming, support event logistics such as check-in and navigation around campus, and help create an exciting and engaging environment to facilitate incoming students’ transition to campus life.
Students who are offered the First-Year Experience Ambassador position will receive extensive training in public speaking, group facilitation, campus resource information, and other leadership skills. As cross‑trained student leaders with a deep understanding of campus resources, FYE Ambassadors may also be offered opportunities during the academic year to assist areas within Enrollment Management or the Office for Student Success.
Preferred applicants will have demonstrated skills in customer service and communication. While some public speaking and leadership experiences are helpful, training and support are provided to help FYE Ambassadors grow in confidence and effectiveness. Candidates should be proactive, detail‑oriented, reliable, and motivated to make a positive impact on the campus community. Successful FYEAs are enthusiastic about UK, passionate about helping others, and dedicated to helping every new student feel welcomed and supported.
This position is also Federal Work-Study eligible, if you qualify.
