Job summary

B&D Foods seeks a Production Group Supervisor for the First Shift to lead daily production activities, ensure safety and quality, and drive continuous improvement. You will partner with maintenance and supply chain to align schedules and achieve cost objectives while maintaining USDA compliance.

The role requires at least five years in food processing with supervisory experience, strong communication, and the ability to coach a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in food processing or manufacturing.
• Two+ years of supervisory or team-leadership experience.
• Knowledge of GMPs, food-safety requirements, and production tech.
• Ability to lead, coach, and achieve results through others.
• Strong communication and ability to work with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership and supervision to assigned production employees.
• Motivate, train, coach, and communicate with shift employees to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals.
• Ensure performance meets established goals and expectations.
• Develop expert knowledge of production processes and equipment.
• Troubleshoot production issues while developing employees' problem-solving abilities.
• Maintain urgency during production runs and downtime.
• Communicate issues to maintenance and management promptly.
• Establish training procedures to strengthen job knowledge and skills.
• Ensure compliance with policies, SOPs, and USDA/food-safety requirements.
• Set expectations for performance, traceability, and SOP adherence.
• Lead continuous-improvement initiatives for safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Coordinate production schedules with department managers to support quality and cost-control.
• Monitor sanitation and ensure USDA standards are met.
• Remain composed under pressure and adapt to changing conditions.
• Treat employees with professionalism, dignity, and respect.
• Review and approve payroll accurately and on time.
• Provide coverage for other Production Supervisors as needed.
• Work flexible hours, including weekends, in a 24/7 environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
