Job Summary Details:

The Patient Transporter assists the Manager of Patient Transportation in the daily operation of the patient transport department.

Shift: 7AM-3:30PM

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• No experience required; on-the-job training provided
• No high school diploma, GED, or college degree required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Customer service experience
• One year of similar work experience

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Patient Transportation Department Customers in receiving timely service
• Support Patient Transporters to achieve desired results
• Train Patient Transporters in proper procedures related to job tasks
• Respond to all customer requests with a positive attitude and follow up with urgency
• Use proper body mechanics to transfer patients safely
• Assist in lifting and positioning patients as needed
• Communicate with the dispatch desk providing necessary information for patient transports
• Notify nursing staff when patients leave or return to units, and inform ancillary departments of patient movements
• Accurately complete all patient transport records and logs
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA policies
• Dispatch personnel to transport patients across hospital areas
• Attend required training sessions
• Embody the philosophies and values of ABM Healthcare Support Services
• Operate a personal computer in a Windows environment
• Be familiar with transport equipment and ensure its safe operation
• Use proper lifting techniques when moving patients
• Train and orient new staff members
• Work effectively in a team environment and interact with various departments
• Provide excellent customer service
• Prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision
• Communicate effectively and treat others with respect
• Handle multiple workloads and adapt to changing priorities
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at least 25% of the time
