Job summary

Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. in San Diego is seeking a Machine Operator for the 1st shift in the Meat Room to assemble, operate, and disassemble production equipment and follow customer specifications.

You will load ingredients, monitor quality, and work with a team to ensure on-time start-ups and compliance with GMPs. The role requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience operating industrial processing or packaging equipment; food manufacturing experience preferred
• Must have mechanical aptitude and intermediate troubleshooting skills
• Ability to uphold safety, food safety, and production quality standards
• Be capable of operating measuring instruments, such as a weight scale and thermometer
• Capable of performing basic math calculations and use a calculator
• Ability to communicate in a concise and clear manner with team members
• Self-motivated individual who requires minimal supervision and direction
• Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment
• Ability to read, understand and follow written specifications
• Ability to read to blueprints or equipment diagrams a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform line set up, start up, operations, closing, and changeover of equipment and ensure designated equipment is in operational condition for on time start-ups.
• Record downtime information and interact with maintenance or other departments to determine root cause.
• Ensure all equipment in area is operational and inform Leads of irregularities.
• Load ingredients automatically and follow formulas to mix, slice, prepare and cook raw ingredients while avoiding waste and downtime.
• Ensure all mixed ingredients meet quality standards and report deviations.
• Ensure product quality is met throughout process.
• Follow GMPs and safety devices are operable and used.
• Record information regarding ingredients, timing, quantities, temperatures, etc.
• Work with other Machine Operators to keep equipment running and avoid downtime.
• Maintain clean and organized coolers and work areas.
