Job summary

Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE seeks a Laboratory Processing Technician for first shift to receive, accession, process and distribute patient specimens for lab testing, following department SOPs.

You will ensure specimens meet pre-analytical requirements, organize workload for accuracy and timeliness, and resolve issues before testing, while projecting a professional image in calls and emails with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• High school education or equivalent required.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities to identify, evaluate and correct problems with specimen quality, integrity and appropriateness for orders.
• Ability to concentrate for long periods, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Computer experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, evaluate, accession, process, store and distribute patient specimens for lab testing per SOPs.
• Ensure incoming specimens meet pre-analytical testing requirements and resolve specimen issues before testing.
• Organize workload for maximum efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of patient testing.
• Project a professional image through phone, email and other communications with internal and external customers.
