Job summary

RJW Transport, Inc. in Plainfield, IL is seeking a Custodian to perform general upkeep of the building, keeping it clean and orderly. You will clean floors, restrooms, windows, and surfaces, empty trash, and assist with repairs and snow removal as needed.

Strong English communication is required, and you should be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work the 5:00am–3:30pm shift. A High School Diploma or GED and prior cleaning experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months experience in custodial work.
• Must be able to effectively communicate, read, write, and speak English.

Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
• Notify managers concerning need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas.
• Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.
• Other duties as required by supervisor.
