Job summary

Nexus Family Healing seeks a 1st Shift Behavioral Health Practitioner for a new youth crisis and stabilization center in Minneapolis. Typical shift is 7:00am–5:30pm (Sun–Tue) at 1800 Chicago Ave. The role supports residents’ therapeutic plans and collaborates with staff to ensure safety and a positive environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Valid driver's license required; must meet state regulating agency and Nexus driving requirements.
• Must have the ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities and understand their unique needs and challenges.
• Must be open to meeting the cultural needs of individuals or communities, considering factors such as language, traditions, and values.
• Successfully participate and complete a three-part Therapeutic Crisis Intervention exam and training
• Must successfully pass a DHS criminal background check
• To qualify, candidates must meet one of the following: 30+ college credits in behavioral sciences + 2000 hours of supervised related experience or practicum/internship
• 4,000 hours of supervised related experience with mental health populations
• Currently enrolled in a behavioral sciences graduate program with assigned clinical training
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in behavioral sciences + practicum/internship

Responsibilities

• Support and reinforce the therapeutic plan of clients by providing guidance and direction to residents in their daily living activities
• Provide mentorship and supervision of resident daily activities and behavior according to established guidelines and procedures
• Participate with coworkers as a team on implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic services
• Remain cognizant of individual client phases, privileges, restrictions and adapt interactions accordingly
• Ensure resident safety and collaborate with coworkers to maintain an environment that is positive, respectful, clean and therapeutic
• Work effectively with clients' families/support networks to reinforce positive family partnerships; Follows established protocols in the use of family engagement and involvement techniques
• Plan and participate in off-campus resident activities and assist in the transportation of clients to home visits, doctor appointments, planned recreational activities
