Avera Granite Falls Hospital is seeking an Emergency Medical Responder to support basic life support under the direction of an EMT. The role includes driving the emergency vehicle or serving as a secondary patient attendant, performing duties safely and confidently, and maintaining readiness for calls 24/7.

The position requires an active Emergency Medical Responder license and a valid Driver's License, with high school or GED preferred.

A Brief Overview

Accountable for basic life support service under the direction of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and makes emergency response calls in accordance with the established state standards and following standing orders and department protocols.

• Serves as either driver of the emergency vehicle or as a secondary patient attendant under the direction of an EMT.
• Carries out all functions within scope of practice in a confident, high-quality and safe manner.
• Demonstrates sound judgment in stress situations and provides emotional stability to patients and affected individuals.
• Responds to calls in a timely manner.
• Maintains technical skills within expected standard of practice.

Essential Qualifications

The individual must be able to work the hours specified. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• Drivers License - Licensing Board Upon Hire and
• Emergency Medical Responder - Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (MEMSRB) An active license in the state of practice Upon Hire

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

• High School or GED Equivalent
