Job summary

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. seeks two First Mates for its Research Support Craft (RSC) teams at Naval Base Point Loma, San Diego.

You will ensure crew safety and vessel navigation when the Captain is away, oversee deck operations, and coordinate maintenance with engineering. Requirements include a 500GT Mate license and near-coastal credentials; US citizenship and DoD security clearance are mandatory; local living in the Port Loma area is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Three years of experience as a Mate of a 500GT vessel managing personnel and schedules.
• Ten years in maritime industry as a Captain of a 500GT vessel preferred.
• Knowledge of preventive/corrective maintenance plans.
• USCG licenses listed above and valid medical certificate are mandatory.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain DoD security clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of crew and vessel navigation in captain's absence.
• Oversee deck department daily operations.
• Coordinate large maintenance activities with Engineering.
• Participate in deck operations as needed.
• Maintain all shipboard safety equipment.

Skills

High School diploma or equivalent

3 years as Mate of 500GT vessel

10 years as Captain (preferred)

Preventive/Corrective maintenance

Driver’s License
