Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking a hands-on risk professional to lead first line of defense initiatives within the business unit and coordinate with risk/control teams to support the Enterprise Risk Framework. The role requires SME expertise, project leadership on complex risk programs, and active management of remediation plans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in risk identification, mitigation, risk and control self-assessment, or related disciplines.
• Experience in understanding Corporate Services / Community Markets risk and compliance contexts is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Execute risk initiatives and document key business processes thoroughly.
• Participate in planning, execution and reporting of the risk-based testing program; perform control testing per standards.
• Review testing results, communicate findings to management, and support remediation plans.
• Monitor KRIs and propose improvements to risk controls; complete RCSAs and risk reporting.
• Assist with escalation of risk events and address regulatory inquiries as needed.
• Ensure adherence to risk policies and drive remediation and governance within the unit.
• Promote compliance with internal and external audit points and regulatory requirements.
